now, i feel bad. my comment might actually aid in discrediting the future comments of die hard, female hip hop fans everywhere when “best of” situations arise. : (

regardless (irregardless, if you’re nasty), “red velvet” and “we luv deez hoez” rule! stankonia was a movement! “…don’t even bang unless you plan to hit somethin’…”

apparently, like denise huxtable, “i walk alone.”

  • DBDR says:

Look, I loved Stankonia. I bought that bitch on CD and vinyl (and still gots the promos too). The poster from Fader will go up on a wall at the crib, as soon as I get a wall that doesn’t have boxes posted up on it. Red Velvet, Gangsta Shit, Slum Beautiful (my favorite song on the alubum), Humble Mumble. Don’t get it twisted…I loves that album. But that should put into perspective how highly ATLiens (and Southernplayalistic…) should be regarded. ATLiens was a true movement. It is near blasphemy to argue that Stankonia was better than ATLiens. As a matter of fact, I’ll even redo my list:

    1a) Southernplayalistic
    1b) ATLiens
    3) Stankonia
    4) Aquemini

And then everything else…most of which I’ve tried to forget even came out. This list is final and not open to discussion.

Don’t worry, our current president walks alone too. People that are dead wrong usually do. :)

  • Joy says:

oooooooooooh, DBDR! the current president? “this list is final and not open to discussion?” where’s #2?

i don’t know you, but it is obvious that you are too many things! (smiles)

DBDR hath spoken! methinks i have lost this bout. i concede (with upturned lips)! LOL

  • How did it become a discussion about outkast? Well anyway I agree,Stankonia is better than ATLiens

  • DBDR says:

Since there is a “co-number 1” there cannot be number two, hence skipping straight to 3.

And to clear up any confusion, when I say “the current president”, I am referring to Shrub, not Obama. Obama doesn’t become president until January.

  • Joy says:

my bad. i had already forgotten about “dubya” (bush…shrub…i get it. you’re so clever.), so i took you to be referring to obama. i guess you told me (psyche!).

anyway…what matters most is that ILL ONE the Beatsmith is correct on two counts. a) “summer so good” was in fact the orignal focus of this post, and it IS good. my neighborhood (featured in the video) rocks. b) stankonia is > atliens. scoff if you must!

blame it all on the “son of the morning…”

    thanks again…

  • Joy says:

    oops! counts…as in 1,2 not a,b…

i should probably go and lay it down…

  • Damien says:

    See what you started, CJ?

  • Minus says:

When you watch the video around the 13th time, you should see hologram cameos of Outkast, but tilt yo head head to left & slightly squint.
I like the video though. Good work fellas.

  • reubthadude says:

man this song JAMZ…it does feel like a summertime song and they speakin the truth..dress lightly because it is hot as hell down here. AT LAST! Houston is putting out some true hip-hop..what up KAY! Oh yea HOW did a discussion about OutKast turn up on this group of comments.

  • DBDR says:

To get back on topic. Yes, the video and the song are both great. Love the fact that so many talented people in Houston are working together.

  • DBDR says:

And now to get back off topic:

Joy: I wish I had come up with Shrub on my own (http://www.amazon.com/Shrub-Short-Happy-Political-George/dp/0375757147)…

And anybody over the age of 30 that says Stankonia is better than ATLiens should have their membership revoked in the “grown folks have sense” club.
