H.I.S.D. – Summer Sessions

A formal introduction to the crew came via Kashmere Don, who’d partnered with Midas for a track called “The Caper”.  Don asked me to put a verse on there, and I made it do what it do. I need a better quality copy of the song before I post it. Can’t put it out there sounding weak and all…

A couple of weeks later I got a call from young Midas himself, asking if I was interested in hopping on a track for their new EP. (It later became a little more than an EP, as you can tell.) He sent me an MP3 titled “Summer Is Good”, so I wrote a verse about the summer being good. Because why not. Passed it over to my boy Big Mon of KO, laid the hook, then shipped it back to the Gold Room. A couple of days later, “Summer So Good” was ready for press.

All in the while, I began visiting The Gold Room several days a week, most significantly on Saturdays – which is when the group holds its weekly meetings. I’ll go further into the exact nature of these meetings in a couple of days, but for now i’ll just say that I quickly got an idea of what made these guys click as a unit. I can honestly say without bias – I like this project from front to back. There’s not a single song that I ever skip on here. EVER. Some of the more well-received songs are “Never Die” and “Automatic”. But the hands-down favorite was “Gone Off Patron”:
