Some of y’all know I ran Division I track & field back in college for Rice. One of my teammates, an All-American Long Jumper, always used to rhyme and produce. After years of making tracks, releasing mixtapes, and albums independently he finally signed a deal through Unauthorized Entertainment/Asylum/Warner Bros. While the content of his music has grown and changed since I’ve known him in ’99, he’s always been self sufficient in creating his music. Von rededicated his life to God and now has that as a center point for his music. As a “gospel” rapper, Von was still able to garner the attention of mainstream marketing and promotion.
