 The Standard

The good folks from the extended Rappers I Know family in Houston have come together to bring a new monthly event. We’ve been racking our brains to figure a new angle on how to bring more attention to the body of talent that we have down here, and we figured the best thing we could do was to create a regular event  that  lets us show off the people in this city that all of you should be talking about.

Beginning Friday, October 2 – and the first Friday of each month thereafter – we present “The Standard”.

Fortunately, our friends over at Warehouse Live, perhaps the best performance venue in town,  also believe in our idea, and they are willing to give us the opportunity to create a hub for exhibiting some of the most talented artist in the country.

As far as Hip Hop weeklys / monthlys go, this one is going to be different, this is going to be special. This isn’t for the 18 and up crowd, this isn’t for the dimwitted. This is the 21 and up, career oriented, progressively minded, hard-to-please crowd.

No huge line ups. No big egos. Not the same thing that we have known for the past 15 years in this city (literally). No cover. No dress code. No kids. No bullshit.

Only the absolute best in local Houston artists and djs. Consider each event as an intimate evening with one of our favorite artists and an incredible DJ. Something that will show you what Houston artists are capable of. We’re not concerned with trying to win a new crowd or have an audience feel an artist, but instead we want people to be relaxed and comfortable. It doesn’t have to be so Hip Hoop that it hurts.

WE WANT WOMEN TO COME OUT AND BE COMFORTABLE!

For this first show we decided to call up Dj Cashless, a certified party rocker right here from Houston with crates that are as deep as I45 is long. And then for your main attraction, we have asked the very talented, very mesmerizing, very incredible Michele Thibeaux! You have no idea how incredible her voice is until you experience in person.

On top of that, each night will be documented and shared for everyone outside our market to experience. In the coming months, you’ll also see a number of your favorite artists from this very website making exclusive appearances.

In the end, we need all of you to be there, so we can create The Standard.
